FAQs
BMD examinations require an appointment. Please phone, present, or submit your referral to our team who will provide you with details on the next available appointment.
Our team will provide specific instructions at the time of booking. Please be prepared with any relevant information that may be required to book your appointment including knowledge of prior BMD examinations and your medication history. You may be asked to wear a gown for the examination, and it is advised that a comfortable two piece outfit is worn. It is important to arrive 15 mins prior to fill in any necessary paperwork to avoid delays in your appointment.
Your BMD will be performed by a qualified Radiographer who will escort you to the examination room, explain the procedure, and instruct you on how to prepare. You will be asked to lie still on the BMD table. The scanner will pass over your spine, hip and/or forearm. Once the BMD is complete, the information will be reviewed and interpreted by a Radiologist, a doctor specialising in Radiology, who will prepare a report for your referrer.
