Euflexxa Injections
Radiology QLD Group provides CT-guided Euflexxa® knee injections at our Chapel Hill, Inala, Underwood and Oxley clinics.
Euflexxa is a viscosupplementation therapy using purified hyaluronan to restore joint lubrication and cushioning in patients with knee osteoarthritis.
Treatment is delivered as a structured course of three CT-guided injections, usually spaced two weeks apart. Completing the full course may provide longer-lasting symptom relief for patients who have not responded adequately to conservative treatments such as medication or physiotherapy.
Our experienced radiologists utilise CT guidance to ensure precise intra-articular placement.
FAQs
Yes. All Euflexxa injections require an appointment. Please contact any of our 4 clinics by phone or submit your referral to arrange the next available booking.
Euflexxa® is a sterile, gel-like product containing purified hyaluronan (sodium hyaluronate). Hyaluronan occurs naturally in joint fluid and acts as both a lubricant and shock absorber.
In osteoarthritis, cartilage wears down and natural hyaluronan levels decrease. Euflexxa helps supplement this loss, supporting smoother joint movement and reducing pain.
- Pain relief for knee osteoarthritis
- Improved mobility and function
- Non-surgical treatment option
- May provide relief for up to 6 months following a full course
- Made from highly purified hyaluronan, a substance naturally found in joints
Preparation instructions will be provided when booking. In general, you may be asked to:
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
- Bring any recent imaging or reports
- Arrange transport home if advised
Please inform our team if you are taking blood-thinning medication or have any medical conditions that may affect your treatment.
Euflexxa treatment is delivered over three sessions, typically spaced two weeks apart.
At each appointment:
- CT imaging is used to accurately guide the injection
- The procedure is performed in a sterile clinical environment
- The injection is completed quickly, with minimal discomfort
You may feel a brief sting from the local anaesthetic or mild pressure during the injection. Most patients return to normal activities shortly afterwards.
After your procedure, a report will be sent to your referring doctor.
- Duration of relief: Euflexxa may provide symptom relief for up to 6 months, whereas steroid injections often provide shorter-term relief.
- Joint health: Euflexxa supplements natural joint fluid. Repeated steroid use may contribute to cartilage weakening over time.
Euflexxa may not be suitable if you:
- Have had a previous allergic reaction to hyaluronan products
- Have a joint infection or infection near the injection site
- Are pregnant (as it has not been tested in pregnancy)
Please discuss your medical history with your doctor prior to treatment.
Euflexxa injections are bulk billed with a valid Medicare card.
Reports are typically available within 24–48 hours.
If your referral is marked urgent, please notify our team so we can prioritise your case.
